Meet David Golobay

Happy Valley is an incredible place to live. David Golobay is running for Happy Valley Mayor to ensure it remains a great place to have fun, raise a family, and start a small business. His extensive leadership experience is exactly what Happy Valley needs.

David and his family have faced many challenges not unlike those who have moved to Happy Valley. The Great Recession hit Happy Valley hard but weathering these trials made our community stronger. Through this experience, David knows what struggling families and business owners need. He will bring the perspective of working families to the work of Mayor.  David's locally owned business, Sun Glow, faced difficult challenges like most businesses.  Through David's leadership, the business not only survived, it thrived and continued to be a business that gave back to the community due in part to David's leadership.

As a husband and father, David understands the importance of a safe, family-friendly community. David worked alongside public safety advocates on the Happy Valley Police Political Action Committee to pass the Happy Valley police levy which ensured police coverage for an additional five years. As Mayor, David will have the same passion and support for Happy Valley first responders who serve and protect our community.  Our Police Levy is up for renewal in 2019 and you can be sure David will take the lead as Mayor going door to door to promote the safety of our community.

As the only elected official with children in our local schools, David has been active in addressing issues of safety in and around our schools.  Working closely with Safe Routes to School, he has helped identify issues relating to the safe transportation of the children of Happy Valley to and from school and is working with them to provide solutions. David has also worked with City staff to address Police response times for our schools as well as met with School Board members. He will continue working hard to find ways to enhance partnerships with North Clackamas School District to keep our children safe.

David's leadership is expansive and includes more than boards, committees, and councils. He has had the honor and trust of the community as he has coached our local youth for many years. Over the past eight years, David has been an active leader of our children coaching baseball, basketball, football, and soccer.

As an active public servant, David understands that the best ideas and public policy are created by collaboration within our community, not backroom discussions with the wealthy and influential few.  David's leadership has and always will be one of inclusion, one where people's voices can be heard.

David Golobay is the owner of Sun Glow Inc. and a member of the Happy Valley City Council. He resides in Happy Valley with his wife of 17 years, Dawn, and their two children, Gabe and Ethan who both attend school within North Clackamas School District.
